Nine Stories
by J.D. Salinger

View in Library Catalog

This is a most interesting compilation of short stories. Salinger brings his experience with life during war time into his narratives and combines a stark look at emotion and tenderness in a variety of different settings. He likes to look at life experience for the well-to-do, and just a warning, everyone smokes cigarettes here!

The Regulators
by Richard Bachman

While, in the end, I loved this book, I felt like it started in the middle of something that had been going on, and I fell a bit adrift. But it’s one of those stories that explains things after the fact, and it’s worth it so you just have to hang in there. Weird story about an autistic boy who becomes inhabited by something evil. Lots of violence, so you can’t be squeamish. The amazing thing is that the ending of this otherwise brutal book is actually very tender.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules

Twenty And Ten
by Claire Huchet Bishop

Twenty and Ten was a brilliant book about twenty children living in a school house in France. The twenty children protected the ten Jewish children from the Nazis. Together they formed a team. It was like a miracle at the end of the book.

The Sanatorium
by Sarah Pearse

The Sanatorium was intriguing in the beginning but didn’t make sense. For instance why would a woman kill other woman because she was raped and she wanted it known by killing these women plus the rapist and her brother who didn’t stand by her. She also killed for it to be known what tortuous abuse was done to the women who were placed in the sanatorium for no reason. The ending left everyone guessing who pushed the detective into the water. It was an ok read but didn’t make sense
