Nine Stories
by J.D. Salinger

View in Library Catalog

This is a most interesting compilation of short stories. Salinger brings his experience with life during war time into his narratives and combines a stark look at emotion and tenderness in a variety of different settings. He likes to look at life experience for the well-to-do, and just a warning, everyone smokes cigarettes here!

Spin
by Patricia Cornwell

View in Library Catalog

While I have enjoyed Cornwell's books very much in the past, this one is WAY too sci-fi for me. It also has a lot of technical detail about tools and equipment, but not a lot of explanation for the activity that is taking place. Very disappointed and I would not read another one from this series.

The Sanatorium
by Sarah Pearse

View in Library Catalog

The Sanatorium was intriguing in the beginning but didn’t make sense. For instance why would a woman kill other woman because she was raped and she wanted it known by killing these women plus the rapist and her brother who didn’t stand by her. She also killed for it to be known what tortuous abuse was done to the women who were placed in the sanatorium for no reason. The ending left everyone guessing who pushed the detective into the water. It was an ok read but didn’t make sense
