My Pet Slime
by Courtney Sheinmel

I loved this book. It was awsome. I wish that pet slimes were real.

The Monk of Mokha
by Dave Eggers

Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of biographies for the simple reason that not everything in a person’s life will be interesting,,,or so I thought until I read this book. Just about every minute of this book kept me engaged and wondering what would happen next. And to say that it is about an immigrant from Yemen who is working as a doorman and want to start a business importing coffee from Yemen doesn’t do it justice. It is the amazing story of a young man committed to improving the life of coffee farmers in his home country and of someone who will literally do anything to accomplish that. Excellent read!

The House In The Cerulean Sea

I’m usually not a fantasy reader but I absolutely loved this book. I enjoyed the characters, the story and the messages of acceptance

Clifford beach day
by Lee Quinlan

This was a cute book featuring puppy Clifford, Emily and friends. My boys enjoyed discovering the beach along with Clifford and identified with Cliffords feeling through out.

The Cat Sitter's Pajamas
by Blaize Clement

This book had, at times, the feel of a cozy mystery but had some really bad violent characters as well, making for an interesting mix. In essence, you never know what’s around the next corner, or page in this case. Throw in the curiosity and eccentricity of cats, and you have an interesting story. The story begins with a couple away on vacation and the cat sitter walks in to find a murder. But some people turn out not be who they appear to be as the plot thickens.

Claymore Manga
by Norihiro Yagi

Although I like anime, I've never really taken to manga. On a whim, I grabbed Claymore from the library shelf. After seeing the dismemberment within the first few pages, I knew I'd enjoy this. The art, though simple, tells the story well. The plotline and characters are clearly established and are quite adventurous. I wound up reading the first volume before I left the library.

Lions of Fifth Avenue

Now here is a genre that I would not normally read, but I have read two of her books recently and enjoyed both very much. And what book could be better for a bibliophile than his one that takes place in a library? The story bounces back and forth between two time frames and gives you a look challenges faced by a family who used to live in and care for the NY public library and the current challenges faced by the library’s special collection curators. I learn so much by reading her books.

Casey and Derek on Ice

I loved the book.

The Sanatorium
by Sarah Pearse

The Sanatorium was intriguing in the beginning but didn’t make sense. For instance why would a woman kill other woman because she was raped and she wanted it known by killing these women plus the rapist and her brother who didn’t stand by her. She also killed for it to be known what tortuous abuse was done to the women who were placed in the sanatorium for no reason. The ending left everyone guessing who pushed the detective into the water. It was an ok read but didn’t make sense

Early Morning Riser

I enjoyed this book so much that I bought a copy for my daughter-in-law who is an elementary school teacher. This is just such a nice story about a small town where everyone knows everyone and they all come together to be there for one another despite their individual differences. This is a nice summer read and it will make you feel good.
